Kidoodlepets Pet of the Month
MickeyDecember 2009Mickey is a Miniature Pinscher - a Min Pin for short. He "looks like" a Doberman Pinscher, although they are not related breeds.(Min Pins that look like Dobermans are nick-named "Mini-Me"s.) Mickey will weigh less than 10 pounds and be about 10-12" tall. His ears are naturally floppy. His tail has been "docked" or cut short by his breeder. His legs and feet are tiny. Mickey is very energetic and loves to run and jump! He can jump very high and is very fast. He's smart but stubborn. He likes to steal small things like pencils or paper and eat them! Micky is devoted to his family but suspicious of strangers. He's a good watchdog for his size!
FergieNovember 2009Meet FERGIE - Septembers Kidoodlepet of the Month! Fergie and her family live in North Carolina, where it's hot and humid, even in September! Lucky Fergie, her pet parents got her a swimming pool so she can cool off on hot days. She's a good swimmer, but even so she has her own "Louis Vitton" life jacket for boating or swimming in the neighborhood lake. Fergie is a Cairn Terrier. Cairn Terriers originally came for the Isle (Island) of Skye off the coast of Scotland. These little terriers are known to be frisky little bundles of energy with very few health problems. They are sturdy and tough and don't shed as much as dogs that have double coats. They are loyal family dogs and good with children if they have been socialized.
GingerOctober 2009This month's Pet of the Month is this little orange kitty with the biggest brown eyes we've ever seen! We don't know her name, we call her Ginger. Her picture was sent to us by someone who found it on the web. We couldn't resist sharing her with you! She's a domestic cat. Notice her long, fine (thin) fur. Over her eyes she has darker fur that forms an "M". This is typical of cats called "tabby cats." The name Tabby Cat refers to the patterns of stripes, spots and swirls on a cat's fur. Tabbies come in two different color combinations. One color combo, like this little kitty, has a rich orange-gold-red coat. The other color combo is silver/ grey/black. All tabbies have noses that are orangy-red or rose colored. They also have a small area of light colored fur around the eyes which seems to make their eyes even bigger. Most tabbies have short hair. This kitty may be a mixed breed - part domestic and part another breed with long hair.
DashSeptember 2009My name is Dash, and I am 14 weeks old. I am a male Havanese puppy, belonging to the family of Dogs called Bichons. The French word Bichon Frise means "fleecy dog" or "curly lap dog," and I love to observe what is going on around me. The Havanese have a long reputation of being circus dogs, probably because we learn quickly and enjoy doing things for people. We are smart, loving dogs, and I like to follow my "mom" around everywhere. My name was given to me because I like to Dash down the hallway and wait for someone to chase me. I also love to chase my humans around the house in circles but not more than I love to chew on everything. That's how I got the nickname "Chewy." I have chew toys to keep me busy, but I get distracted by corners of the rugs in the living room and the cupboards in the kitchen. I also love to chew on socks, either tied together to make a really long chew toy or single socks as they come off your feet. I love to cuddle up with you or cuddle by your feet as you are working. Ooh, I see the corner of something. GOTTA GO!
DieselAugust 2009Meet Diesel, a Bengal cat who lives with Vyra in Northern California. Bengal cats look striking because they have coats similar in color and pattern to Wild Leopards. They are gentle, friendly animals that make good pets for people who like energetic, fun loving and smart animals. They are extremely active and alert cats. You may find them “fishing” if you have an aquarium! They like to play fetch. You can take them for a walk on a leash. When it’s quiet time, they love attention and affection.
Taco BelleJuly 2009Taco Belle is a white shorthaired housecat. She was adopted from a pet store that had rescued her and her twin sister from a pet shelter when they were 8 years old.. Taco Belle's name comes from a game she likes to play. Every time the door is opened she makes a "run for the border." She dashes out the door and waits for someone to chase her or make her come back inside. She's a tease. She also likes to talk! The sound she makes sounds something like re-ow, instead of meow.
ShelbyJune 2009Hi my name is Shelby, I am a two year old mixed breed. People say I look like a small Retriever or a Dingo (which is a wild dog). What do you think I am? My mom and dad just tell people that I am the best dog. I live in Southern California, I was adopted from a shelter by my mom and dad when I was eight weeks old. Being adopted was the happiest day of my life. My mom and dad take me to doggie daycare, while they're at work where I get to play with my K9 friends. I love going on walks, getting lots of love, chasing squirrels, and spending time with kids especially my friends Celia and Lydia, who live next door. My nicknames are buddy, wigglebug, and punkin. My favorite foods are chicken, rice, and of course cookies.
SparklesMay 2009This month's Dog Spotlight features SPARKLES a miniature American Eskimo dog. In this picture Sparkles is about 6 weeks old. He lives in California with friends Diego and Lexie. American Eskimo dogs, a relative of the Spitz breed, were brought here from Germany to be circus performers. They are intelligent, fun loving and very friendly. They are good guard dogs for their family. Eskimos are always white or cream color. They have "double coats". Near their body the hair is short and thick to keep them warm. The outer layer is coarser and longer to protect them from wind, rain and snow. They have to be brushed often to prevent tangles (mats) but don't need a bath often because they lick themselves clean. You'd think from his looks and his name that an American Eskimo dog would make a great sled dog - and would be one of the dogs in the famous Alaskan Sled Dog race, the Idiarod. (Which starts March 1st) They are not even distant relatives of the American Malamutes, Siberian Huskies or Alaskan Eskimos that are sled dogs. Learn more at www.dogbreedinfo.com/americaneskimo.html
KobiApril 2009Hi, my name is Kobi. I am a 12 year-old female Akita. My full name is Yorokobi and it means "joy" in Japanese. I live in Wyoming with my human mom and dad and my big brother, Saijo. He is an Akita too. I used to live in Southern California, but I like it in Wyoming because I can go out in the snow. I have white paws that look like mittens. My favorite food is steak. Mmmm! My mom and dad give me birthday parties every July and dress me up for Halloween. My best vacation was a trip to Yellowstone, I saw moose, buffalos, elk and deer. I'm special, especially in the month of February because I have a big white heart on my chest. That's because I do have a big heart and I love kids Will you be my Valentine? |
